I heard this audio on Instagram and was not sure if I wanted to look back in time and see what did I love as a 13yo.
Anyway, as I write this post I will try to recall things I loved as a 13yo.
Reading heartfelt stories
I don’t know which 13yo would be into it but one of my favourite things was to read something short right after lunch. This was mostly short stories from a series of books called “વીણેલા ફૂલ” (Especially chosen flowers). I did not understand the depth of a lot of stories but a lot of them made me cry.
Dancing
Did I need music? Nope. I just loved dancing to the music in my head. I danced in front of the mirror and I danced in the garden and I danced whenever and wherever I wanted to.
Making up stories
Making up stories was one of my favourite games. I sat in our garden and made random, really random elaborate stories and inacted them for myself…imagining a big audience.
Writing poems
Now what kind of poems does a 13yo write? Random poems. But I just loved writing things that made sense to me.
I still have my book from that time and I sometimes re-read those poems to feel inspired again.
Running
Believe it or not running used to be one of my favourite things. My brother inspired me to run and I just loved running without any destination.
Making things
I loved making zines, random art, best from waste projects, cards, and what not.
Okay so these are some of the things I loved as a 13yo. Now, apart from watching TV with my grandmother I can do most of the things now as well and in a way I do them already. Which means I haven’t exactly lost touch with myself.
It’s not just of those in their 30s
Honestly, you could be 30, 40, 50…. it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you go back to things you were passionate about and enjoy them in your day to day life.
So, what is that you used to love when you were 13?
