I read this book called The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well a couple of years ago.
It was a comforting book for sure.
While reading the book, I found a lot of ways to add hygge in life and I also realised that there are a lot of things that I am already doing.
What is hygge?
Hygge (pronounced “hoo-ga”) is a Danish concept that embodies coziness, contentment, comfort and well-being.
Ways to add hygge to life
- Create a cozy nook.
- Light candles.
- Embrace natural elements.
- Enjoy warm beverages.
- Practice gratitude.
- Connect with loved ones.
- Prioritize self-care.
- Cozy up with blankets and soft textiles.
- Cook comforting meals.
- Disconnect from technology.
Things I do to add/increase hygge in my life:
I enjoy my time on my sofa. The sofa isn’t brand new and it’s purpose isn’t aesthetics. When I sit on my sofa, I can feel the indentations at the right places. It makes me feel like I belong here.
There was a time when I used to light and make a lot of candles. Now, I use this candle wax melting equipment which makes my home smell heavenly and I love it.
I take time to drink my morning tea and I enjoy a cup of coffee/ green tea in the afternoon.
Sometimes I write in my journal and other times I blog my thoughts. It comforts my heart.
I watch calming YouTube videos that make me feel warm.
I cook and eat food that makes me happy.
These are just a few things that increase the comfort level in my daily life.
I also say no to things that decrease my comfort 🙂
Now, it’s your turn. Tell me what do you do to increase comfort in your daily life?
