7 ways to unwind after a demanding day

Somedays you need an ice-cream at the end of the day and somedays you need some wine 🍷

But there are other ways in which you can feel better at the end of a demanding day.

But first let’s understand what does a demanding day mean:

Having a demanding day means that you have experienced a significant amount of stress or pressure over the course of your day. This could be due to a variety of factors, such as a heavy workload, difficult meetings or conversations, personal challenges or responsibilities, or unexpected events that require your attention and energy.

A demanding day can leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and mentally drained. It can also impact your mood, leaving you feeling irritable or anxious.

7 ways to unwind after a demanding day

There are a lot of things you can do to unwind after a demanding day. Here’s a list:

1. Move your body

Exercise can help to reduce stress and improve your mood. Go for a walk, jog, or do some yoga to help release tension.

2. Take a bath

Taking a warm bath can be a great way to relax and unwind. Add some essential oils or bath salts to enhance the experience.

3. Read a book

Reading a book can help to take your mind off the stress of the day. Choose a book that you find engaging and enjoyable.

Listen to music

Listening to calming music can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Create a playlist of your favorite soothing songs.

Here is my playlist of songs that don’t remind of any person or places.

Meditate

Meditation can be a great way to calm your mind and reduce stress. Find a quiet place, sit comfortably, and focus on your breath.

Try this sound bath:

Connect with loved ones

Spend time with loved ones, talk about your day and what happened. Share your thoughts and feelings, and support each other.

Engage in a hobby

Doing something you enjoy can help to reduce stress and improve your mood. Whether it’s painting, gardening, or playing an instrument, spend some time doing what you love.

I tend to do different things at the end of a demanding day depending on how I feel:

Sometimes I like to play games or watch something uplifting or emotional (if I want to have a good cry) on Netflix.

Other times I let go of my social media restrictions and watch funny reels, read and reply to tweets and scroll a little longer on Pinterest.

Then there are times when a good workout helps so I do that.

At times, I journal my thoughts and meditate and then have a glass of warm water.

And there are times when I do nothing. Let the feeling go and take a nap or retire to bed early while listening to one of the train journey sleep stories on calm.
