Energising Life: 8 Powerful Sources to Boost Your Energy Levels

You cannot pour from an empty cup.

To keep your cup full, you need energy givers. So, I am sharing a short list of 12 energy givers that will help you stay centered, calm and happy.

1. Sleep

Sleep helps in restoring two particular chemicals in our bodies: glycogen and adenosine. The function of glycogen is to store energy in brain and it decreases while we are awake. They are restored during sleep. Adenosine accumulates while we are awake and prompt us to feel sleepy at the end of the day.

We need sleep to keep our energy level high, to feel less cranky and to function at our best.

2. Writing

Writing can be an outlet for your feelings.

Journaling clears your mind, helps you sort your emotions, makes you mindful and hence it is a mood booster.

Why is journaling important

  • Reduces stress.
  • Clears mind.
  • Helps process your emotions.
  • Improves mindfulness.
  • Acts as a mood booster.

3. Sunshine

Sunlight helps boost a chemical in your brain called serotonin. That can give you more energy and help keep you calm, positive, and focused.

4. Exercise

Moving your body increases endorphins, dopamine, adrenaline and endocannabinoid — these are all brain chemicals associated with feeling happy, feeling confident, feeling capable, feeling less anxiety and stress and even less physical pain.

5. Hugs

We receive a jolt of oxytocin when hugged. Oxytocin is known as “love or cuddle” hormone. There is a transfer of positive energy from one human to another while we hug and this makes us feel safer and supported.

6. Fresh air

When you go out and your lungs take in more fresh air, the oxygen levels in your blood also go up. This means more oxygen reaches your brain and this helps you feel energised. It also improves your ability to concentrate.

7. Self-care

Self-care by definition means taking the time to do things that help you live well and improve both your physical health and mental health.

When you do any self-care activity it boosts your mood.

8. Plants

You don’t get to go out in the nature all the time but surrounding yourself with plants does the trick most of the times. Having plants around you helps you breath better, the smell, colour and even touch have positive effect on humans.

That’s all folks!

Now pick one energy giver for the day and recharge yourself.
